The connoisseur of women - Damian Kłaczkiewicz

He loves women. Worships. Adores. At least in an artistic sphere. In a way he is fascinated by women, their bodies, but this adoration does not only consider the physical sphere of a woman. There is a lot of nudity in his art, but it is not vulgar nor aggressive. He can extract a certain depth from it, the real beauty. For sure his art is not directed towards emphasizing the intimate body parts (it would be anatomy, not art), but towards capturing this what is the most beautiful in woman's nudity - secret, sensuality, subtlety.

To make the sunshines even hotter

As the artist states - the stained- glass art is her true passion. Her works from  beginning to end are the "child" of her imagination and talent, as she does not use the patterns available in the market. Therefore, we have got to do with something original and unique.

Only a provocation? Another view on the art of Georg Bulh

His works not so long ago have provoked a lively discussion on the Broszka.pl website. Criticizing his works, Dominika Dynia wrote about an aesthetic shock which evokes both an  interest and a certain distance and disgust. These pictures are only a provocation.

Recently an article has appeared on the French website Déco'In in which Katarzyna Krzak analyses the Nexus II picture. She entitled the article In a peloton of discs leading to the bright dreams. According to her, the content of the work provokes us to reflection, invites to ponder over our place in a group, our position in the peloton of discs. Are we talking about the same artist? This Georg Bulh is quite controversial.

The review of Katarzyna Krzak:

The energetic energy of Natalia Miedziak...

Natalia Miedziak - known in the Gallery as Miedziana, is becoming more and more successul and her art is becoming to be recognized in a wider range than local. Her careeer is an evidence that it is enough to really "want" something and the right people and conditions will appear to fulfill one's dreams.

This time we present an article which appeared in the "Polonia" monthly from the United States with which we constantly cooperate.

Miedziana created the layout of the Czerwie record cover!

Recently the Czerwie Records record label released a new limited album edition entitled the Open Art for People. As a resourceful person Miedziana designed the cover using in the front the photo which she made when she was 13 years old. Although it is hard to find the album in a traditional form on a disc, one can find the whole album in the Internet.

We wish good luck to the artist who is already an adult :-)

Esna - an artist with a cause

She is not an accidental artist - she is a graduate from the art high school (the area of expertise: functional art with the specialty of artistic weaving); she has also got a master degree in graphics. Therefore, she is a visual artist- graphic professional, educated and talented, having an artistic intuition and strict theoretical basics in the field of art. I think that these factors result in her reasonable approach to the her work, as her artistic works are not just the products of a wild inspiration but deliberately designed compositions. Her conscious approach to art may also be confirmed by the facts from her life; the artist during the school years has been a member of a cultural committee, she worked for an Artistic Department, has been a member of the Teek2ra club, where she was involved in the preparation of various exhibitions and events of various types. Esna was also a co-establisher of the "Art..Revo" Society of Artistic Activities.

As you can see, Esna is not a type of an insane artist who is waiting for a divine inspiration that would make him act in a frenzy. She is an artist with a cause - a person conscious of her art, her abilities and a person knowing what she can create combining these two components.

Sensational news from the cycle of the "Parody and Plagiarism"

Michał Zantman

16th of March at 18.00

The "Folia" Club

Cracow Main Square 30

Worldly -absurd stories

Astonishing ignorance is flooding the country. Ripping off is having a hard time. The government spokesman decides not to take a stance. The lights-out period in Płock and its areas is prolonged for 25 minutes. The Polish want reform - the president decides to prolong his term. A cucumber sandwich is suspected for several poisonings. The boarders of the necessary defence from Friday to Saturday have been passed again.

These and many other sensational news from the cycle of the "Parody and Plagiarism" were presented by Michał Zantman in the "Folia" club in Cracow. The texts which were read might be referred to as the worldly - absurd stories because, as the author says, very often these are the absurds of everyday life which turn up to be the motivating factors to write another work.

Project Theater Studio

live music: Angelica Castello

texts: Ingeborg Bachmann

15. 03. 2008. at 20.00

Kawiarnia Naukowa (Kraków ul. Jakuba 29-31)

It was already the fourth time when a theatrical group from Wien the Project Theater performed in Poland, this time the performance was in German.  Auf diesem dunkelnden Stern (which means On a darkening star) was devoted to the artistic works of Ingeborg Bachmann (1926-1973), an Austrian poet, known and respected in her home country even more than the  Noble prize-winner Elfriede Jelinek. During the spectacle, the audience had an opportunity to become acquainted with the poetry of Ingeborg Bachmann, they could watch in the background stills from a documental movie registering the poet's visit in our country four months before she passed away.

Goddesses, nereids and nymphs…

From the 20th they will be inhabiting our Gallery.

To Celebrate the first day of spring - the day of worship of the Great Goddess,

we invite You to see our exhibition.

The exposition is opened by the works of Monika Worsztynowicz. Her paintings are the pictorial combination of series of images and

symbols of the Great Goddess which come from various cultures.

Goddess- Mother, Great Huntress, Gentle Caregiver, Clever Old Woman, these are just some of them.

The motif of the Earth Mother and her priestesses also appears in the works of Lucyna Szpuniar.

A powerful and strongly sexual is the woman present on the paintings of Ewelina Turkot.

She is a contemporary sex goddesses liberated from the pressure of the patriarchal culture.

The series of graphics by Magi Korbel is a result of seeking the emanation of divinity in the ordinary women, these whom we meet every day.

The duo of photographers Magdalena Buczkowska and Marta Kosieradzka has created a moving multimedia project entitled the "Aquarium",

whose characters are trying to find themselves in the glass cage from the title.

The exhibition is closed with expressive aquarelles by Małgorzata Piróg which show dancing nereids and nymphs.

The exhibition is for adults only.

Georg Buhl – art that intrigues

Everyone has a different approach to painting, as well as to any other human artistic activity. For some, it is a form of entertainment - the paintings are supposed to be just pretty, put a smile on their face and  bring pleasure to their aesthetic senses. For others, it is  a way of interpreting reality - then a work of art delivers to them answers to the questions which bother them. There are also people who consider the entire artistic process to be an experiment, and they expect the artist to surprise them - with a genuine form, shocking message, appealing arrangement of colours.

Which group of amateurs- observers shall be interested in (and maybe delighted with) the paintings of a German artist Georg Buhl? For sure; they should have certain artistic preferences and  be demanding receivers, as his art is neither straightforward nor pleasant in reception. For me these works are mostly shocking. Yes - an aesthetical shock, evoking interest, but also, in a sense, a certain distaste - I guess this is the best description of a feeling which simply „attacked" me when I was visiting Quaggaart Gallery's sites and I encountered the works of this controversial painter.

A madness that brings sense to things

Anol Ël Pemu creates his shimmering with warm colors pictures by combining soil, charcoal, paint and items found in the dump. The elements are starting to form entities, sometimes there emerges a shape of a person, item or place. There are women in a marketplace, princess Yennega from the history of the Mossi kingdom, a slave standing in the door of no return on the Goree island. Getting inspiration from the surrounding world, the artist does not avoid tough topics.  However, he uses a tough language which seems to carry a heartening melody, giving hope. Maybe it is so because inside the African reality presented on the pictures there are some more universal truths, which men long for.

Anol's method? "walking we discover, meet, exchange experiences" says the artist and he sets off. He leaves his homeland Kamerun, travels across many African countries to finally stay in Koudougou in Burkina Faso where he works in his art studio-association La Folie de l'Art.

Nevertheless, he still follows the way of discoveries, meetings, and the exchange of experiences. After February's workshops for children, in March the association is organizing a scrabble competition in order to collect money for a roadshow exhibition. The La Folie de l'art Festiwal is scheduled for 21-23 November 2008. As for now, you can visit the artist's gallery: http://quaggaart.com/pl.gallery.s.Anol.html

Temptation from a Wall…

Ewelina Ładzińska is a 4th year student of ASP (Academy of Fine Arts) in Poznań (Poland) who appears in the Gallery under the nickname of GUINA.

As Dominika Dynia Wites in her critique :

The works of GUINA, as well as the entirety of her creative output, are phenomena really worth of attention and deeper reflection. She can present nudity in a unique way, on her canvas it becomes something magical. Uncommon sense of colour, ability to highlight this what is essential in the nude art, are just few of the significant elements of the artist's style. I hope that I will once more the occasion to be absorbed in thoughts of her other works and to delight in them. And these to whom art is only an empty word, should feel sorry that they will never be tempted by a wall.

To be Delighted. Is it Possible in Modern Times ?

“Photography is like freezing a picture, it is like killing a person on a scrap of a photographic plate – (says the Copper) under graphical processing they start to shout lauder, to cry, to laugh…”
