This time Wachtmeister presents a gentle, delicate graphics with warm, pastel colors. So here we have at the foreground, a surprising, ambiguous character. A unexpected mix of the sun and the moon, the day and the night, walking shaky – because of the fact that one of figure’s legs ends with a fin, while the second one with a human’s foot.

The graphics is perfectly suitable for hanging on the wall of children’s room. A smiling creature resembles only happy associations. A sympathetic form, awkward and helpless – just like a small child learning how to walk.

But isn’t it, that any kind of the first step, at any field or discipline is hard for us? It is proverbial passing from one life’s stage to another, to a new reality. Doesn’t matter what we’re learning, getting experience is always pained for in initial uncertainty, instability. Every time it’s a magic moment, because thank to new abilities, a dark of ignorance is lighted up. We are no longer the same people, in the darkness up to our necks. We are trying, so we are developing and so we know that a new world will show up to us soon.

That experience is always accompanied by happiness. How good is to try something for the very  first time: a new tastes, new trends, getting new abilities. That mood of joy we can see also at a face of Wachtmeister’s character. It’s delightfully excited – so the graphics can be also a great gift for someone who likes to discover new abilities or is developing intensively.

Whole picture emanates from optimism. A delighted smile, on both sides of character: sunny and moon, big and full of happiness pupils of eyes, pleasant shades of pink – all of it could be described by one word: “fun”.

Knitted eyebrow and a crimson blush gives the creature an extra charm. That look on its face just invites to play. Subtle shapes, no sharp edges, many circles – those features gives a character friendly attributes.

Besides some irregularity of placing forms on a white background, at the end we get a pattern similar to a white ram around the picture. From the inside of the picture a name of an author looks at us proudly – being a great advertisement of his nick and promoting a mark that he made under Watchtmeister  logo at the same time.

We should pay more attention for the background: pinks, violets, blues formed into circular shapes. It isn’t orphism yet, color hasn’t dominated the form, but we can see delicate similarities to works characteristic for that trend, like Fernard Lager creativity for example. While the main character reminds Paul Klee creatures in a way. In the graphics we will find more influences of different XX-century art trends.

The work could be used as an industrial design, especially for children products – it’s easy to imagine a bedclothes with that motive or a children clothes with Wachtmeister picture as overprint – that way we could convert the graphics into a usable pop-art. The possibilities have no limits – you only have to make the title first step.
